This long Japanese scroll, about the time that the Buddha moves from his humanity, and into the next world. There is marks of his ascetic life, and marks of his princely history—there are depictions of his followers. at the very top corner, his grieving mother. But all of this narrative happens in the midst of a delicate , intricate landscape. There is still grief, mourning, and  tears flow, but the cycle continues.
